Essex, CT (May 2, 2023) - The 7th Connecticut Spring Boat Show raised over $18,000 including $5,000 in generous private donations for Sails Up 4 Cancer over the course of the 3 day event held April 28th-30th. This year’s event at Safe Harbor Essex Island, located in Essex, CT greeted 1300 show attendees, a large dip from the 2022 gate attendance numbers due to a weekend of rain, substantial wind and low temperatures, but still an impressive turnout. Sails Up 4 Cancer (SU4C), is a non-profit organization supporting cancer care, education, prevention and research.

“Sails Up 4 Cancer would like to thank everyone who came out to support the show and those who purchased tickets and couldn’t make it. We also greatly appreciate the support and generosity of the greater Essex and shoreline communities. Every extra dollar and volunteer donation goes a long way” says Bob Davis, President and Founder of Sails Up 4 Cancer.

“Even with weather challenges, once again this show exemplifies the interest in boating and desire to get out to experience all that Essex has to offer,” says Ben Cesare owner of Windcheck Magazine, producer of the annual show. “We heard that several boats were sold throughout the weekend, and a few of our land exhibitors had record sales at the show. The live music added vibrancy to the show and our fishing talks remain a popular attraction. We are grateful for the support of our sponsors and the community of Essex, CT”.

The show is a production of WindCheck Magazine and hosted by Essex Island Safe Harbor Marina. Show sponsors include Hoffman Audi of New London, Avelo Airlines, Essex Boat Works, Surfridge Brewing Co., Risk Strategies/Gowrie Group, Essex Steam Train and Riverboat, Maritime Insurance International, The Griswold Inn, Experience Essex and Yacht Brokers Association of America (YBAA).
