Essex, CT  (May 11, 2021) -The 5th Connecticut Spring Boat Show helped to raise over $20,000 for Sails Up 4 Cancer over the course of the 3 day event held April 30th-May 2nd.  This year’s event at Safe Harbor Essex Island, located in Essex, CT greeted over 2,100 show attendees, well ahead of 2019 gate attendance numbers.  Sails Up 4 Cancer (SU4C), is a non-profit organization supporting cancer care, education, prevention and research.

“Sails Up 4 Cancer would like to thank everyone for their support and generosity. It was a stellar weekend for us and hopefully we're on the rebound from a devastating 2020 year of fundraising. All of our events for 2020 had to be cancelled. This weekend helped to fill a serious void and we're grateful to all.” Says Bob Davis, President and Founder of Sails Up 4 Cancer.

“Not only did the show produce a record number of funds raised, the increase in attendees over the 2019 show exemplifies the interest in boating and desire to get out to experience all that Essex has to offer,” said Ben Cesare, owner of Windcheck Magazine, producer of the annual show.  “We were equally excited to hear that several boats were sold throughout the weekend, a continued surge in sales for the boating industry. We are grateful for the support of our sponsors, the boating industry and the community of Essex, CT”.

The annual show is a production of WindCheck Magazine and hosted by Safe Harbor Essex Island Marina.  2021 Show sponsors included BMW, Essex Boat Works, Essex Steam Train and Riverboat, Gowrie Group, and the Yacht Brokers Association of America (YBAA).  For updates on the 2022 show, visit www.ctspringboatshow.com.
